Estonia-Increased VAT threshold

In a recent EU Council meeting, approval was given for a derogation to be granted to Estonia to increase its VAT registration threshold applicable to small businesses established in Estonia.

With effect from 1 January 2018, Estonian businesses whose turnover in a 12 month period does not exceed €40,000 will not have an obligation to register for Estonian VAT. This derogation will be in force until at least 31 December 2020.
